Chelmsford Slow Growth Initiative Petition
We, the undersigned, petition the Chelmsford Board of Selectmen, the Town Manager, and the Planning Board to support low growth strategies. We support reasonable efforts to meet state mandates for affordable housing, despite the fact that current mandates do not fairly account for existing affordable units in Chelmsford. We petition for updates to the Affordable Housing Master plan that emphasize buy down strategies and redevelopment rather than new development.
- We support efforts to maintain existing watershed and open space.
- We do not want the town to sell off town-owned open space.
- We do not support a development-based approach to affordable housing.
- We support buy down and redevelopment strategies to provide affordable housing.
- We do not want Chelmsford Preservation Act (CPA) funds to be used to purchase town land, or be used to subsidize or fund new development of any kind.
- We call for the affordable housing master plan to be revised to require new 40B developments of owner-occupied units to include 75% affordable units.
- We call for a moratorium on new 40B approvals by the Board of Selectmen unless the proposed developments include 75% affordable units.
